About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Missing Familiarity....

Planning an escape to the exotic,
A getaway from what is familiar.
Leaving behind old days of habit,
Surprise is such an infrequent caller.
Challenges incite a new excitement,
Faraway cities offer limelight living.
Suitcases contain uncharted hopes,
Dressed to impress and be impressed.
Foreign tongues and tastes to fathom,
Tick lists of sights to see and remember.
Rushing freedom into precious little time,
Pressure eventually points towards home.
The comfort of one’s own duvet and pillow,
Routine quells the pangs of our separation.

  1. Your poetry is very nice and I am sorry to hear of your plight. I have had my work stolen too and it is very frustrating. I how you get justice.

  2. Eileen, I hope it is true that you will be going somewhere exotic, that your suitcases ARE packed. It is always wonderful to experience interesting places, especially if they are VERY different than one's own.

  4. I can hear the excitement of a trip - "suitcases contain uncharted hopes" - but I'm with you on the homeward turning, and the comforts of one's own duvet and pillow!

  10. It's fun to be traveling and to experience new things and sights. It's a sojourn enough to give that whiff of fresh air but great then to be back to home again after a while. Have fun Eileen!
