About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Calendar Days....

The sojourn of living is listed annually,
Segmented and singularly delineated.
Ticks of achievements circled to recall,
Notches of disappointments all crossed.
A long view tantalizes exciting possibilities,
While the short term courts sterner reality.
Sprigs of inspiring newness emerge gradually,
Tendrils of blossoming thoughts soon revealed.
Rustic years of simple alignment and old habits,
Resolutions repetitively paced within a promise.
Life itself captured in daily successes and failings,
Turning pages as pasts and futures move on apace.

  2. Happy New Year, Eileen. I think about turning pages as pasts and futures move on. Strikes me as a brilliant thought. Every day lived becomes the past the next day, and the future becomes the present soon enough. And the older one becomes, we realize 'short term' is the way to go, I think. Easier to grasp than long term at a certain point. I enjoyed this, Eileen.

A lot of excitements on the longer term and realities in the short-term. Great observations Eileen! This can be a guide to future expectations coming one's way!

  6. Don't we just love putting things in boxes, metaphorically or literally. Oh to be rich enough to dispense with those strictures and just enjoy life.
