About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... An Absence....

During the missing being of your presence,
Memories then congregate and concentrate.
In mind they desire to give some sustenance,
Clinging into the depths of images and seeing.
Connecting with a silence while remembering,
Distance inevitably struggles to relay all detail.
Voices exchange sentiment without closeness,
Without your touch all rests in an isolated state.
In absentia separates opportunities in this time,
Sacrifices between here and there unite futures.
Togetherness is brimming with loving intentions,
Absence buoys temporal and distant separation.

  3. It is very difficult when someone is absent....especially, I think, if one has those vivid memories. For me it would be painful if 'voices exchange sentiment without closeness.' This feels lonely to me. Loving intention needs to be more than intention & turned into action!

  4. Being away from someone we love can feel very lonely. However I must admit that it is easier nowadays to keep in touch than it was a few decades ago.

  5. Sometimes, absence can make a heart forgets but ye know there are some absence that deserve a favorable consideration. This is lovely, Eileen. Smiles.

  6. I always find that kind of absence so difficult, when the Presence is so large. Well expressed, my friend.

So hard to be separated from those we care about.
    I have been there.

    Wonderfully expressed.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,

  11. Wonderful poem. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I've never really believed that to be true. But if you know it's only temporary absence, that's completely different.

  12. The longing here is palpable. Also, I really enjoyed the pair of "congregate" and "concentrate."
