About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Much Appreciated....

So much to extol about gifts already bestowed,
Countless blessings adorn the grace of life itself.
Opportunities have been and are still plentiful,
Each accepted and absorbed with open arms.
Tribulations and tears have harshly interrupted,
Smoothness and expectations of life are tested.
Treasures and treats of family and good friends,
Their touch remains in abundance long afterwards.
Clasp the goodness of tenderness and loves found,
Their trace indelibly etched upon a welcoming heart.
Caring and sharing reciprocates similar kindnesses,
Helping hands lessen individual loads of loneliness.
Observing and embracing greatest of worldly sights,
Naturally inspiring and exalting in their significance.
This journey moves apace in a blinking of perception,
Yet it is necessary to pause and collect the goodness.

How To....

See the positives in emptiness,
Enjoy the freedom of the space.
Listen to sounds found in silence,
An emollient to ease cacophonies.
Traces of spilt milk or salty tears,
Are cleaned and soothed with time.
Rain drops caught in a stormy sweep,
Eventually cease in relieved calmness.
Feeling lost is not always detrimental,
Being found is a reward for the journey.
Small faltering footsteps take their time,
Achievements are welcomed upon arrival.
Beyond any limitations sensed by this day,
Is the consideration of sharing the morrow.
Life may offer a convoluted pathway of tricks,
Unravelling those wherefores is living in itself.

Healthy Happiness....

The undulating whims of existence,
Seek to twist and turn one’s mood.
Frailties grind and nag at quietness,
Headaches bang with their endurance.
Sounds like to draw faint susceptibilities,
Cornering and cowering in the darkness.
Snivelling and poking sticks in jerky jest,
Plausibility edges towards investigation.
Explanations shift in an amoebic fashion,
Determining touches of sheer magic at times.
Opinions concentrate minds of scented truth,
Alternatives tweak acceptability and popularity.
T’is surely most imperative in this only crazy life,
That one should always seek to indulge in happiness.

Being Oneself....

A total failure was declared at eleven years old,
No return ever to the bosom of trusted friends.
Such a wilful act certain to cause embarrassment,
The family name tarnished by this disappointment.
Father declared that it was so that Saturday morning,
A thin brown envelope delivered those solemn facts.
Unqualified to proceed to roads all paved with gold,
Wednesday’s child was born into this real woefulness.
Condemned and consigned into a castaway position,
Unloved and unwanted after a closely examined truth.
Clammed silences perpetuated secondary experiences,
Unforgiving challenges layered in turmoil deep inside.
Teenage years absorbed ridicule and daily chastisements,
Damnation devoured self-belief with every sphere of life.
Sanity spoke in night time whispers offering many escapes,
Self-sufficiency and determination buoyed choices in time.
Personal success relieved and rewarded bravery in oneself,
A stronger voice evolved expressing its desire to be heard.
Verbal cruelty demanded a fatherly respect in those days,
Past years have revealed an identity of absolute fulfilment.

Steadfastly Present....

Never far beyond beckoning or neediness,
A dreamy constancy unites any separation.
Pondering about the coldness of partition,
And that ultimate first touch of unification.
Bonded and held tightly in certain phrases,
Sentiments travel well in a silent transcript.
Each line absorbed as moments of hugging,
Words whisper from their textual placement.
Distance may be a geographical location at times,
Yet intentions remain steadfast in their presence.
