About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Buoyed By Belief....

Early day steps were always quite faltering,
Slopes were slippery and tongues felt harsh.
Shoulders slung so low in the feeble stance,
Confidence trailed to depths of fearful loathing.
Sinking or swimming was the only singular option,
Responsible hands only rebuked with inaction.
The constancy simply engulfed internal energies,
Until with time, maturity and new vigour emerged.
Leaving behind cruel and fragmented memories,
Opportunities presented beyond previous confines.
Explanations and forgiveness, long lost in history,
Today’s demeanour is sustained with personal pride.
Strands of well-chosen words rise in a flighty karma,
Adding buoyancy and pride to the belief in oneself.

  1. Oh Eileen, what a beautiful banner photo you have! Glorious! Love the title of your poem. I love the progression in this poem from the pain of childhood, as our spirits grow and rise and then....soar!

  3. When buoyancy finally arrives it is cherished, being so long sought and so hard won. I wish that childhood wasn't such a detriment to the necessary self-confidence, happy that belief finally arrives.

  7. There is a kind of buoyancy that comes with working through life, hardships - facing those sink or swim adversities head on ... and coming to a place of personal pride. I liked this poem very much.

Pride in oneself can overcome adversities in life. A great motivator to to create belief in oneself. How true Eileen! Great ending!
