About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Much Appreciated....

So much to extol about gifts already bestowed,
Countless blessings adorn the grace of life itself.
Opportunities have been and are still plentiful,
Each accepted and absorbed with open arms.
Tribulations and tears have harshly interrupted,
Smoothness and expectations of life are tested.
Treasures and treats of family and good friends,
Their touch remains in abundance long afterwards.
Clasp the goodness of tenderness and loves found,
Their trace indelibly etched upon a welcoming heart.
Caring and sharing reciprocates similar kindnesses,
Helping hands lessen individual loads of loneliness.
Observing and embracing greatest of worldly sights,
Naturally inspiring and exalting in their significance.
This journey moves apace in a blinking of perception,
Yet it is necessary to pause and collect the goodness.

  1. There is a hushed beauty Eileen. The reader wants to watch (without blinking) as the speaker collects gratitude.

  3. Yet it is necessary to pause
    and collect the goodness

Yes, it gets into a finality at the ending. One ought to be fair to oneself to savor the goodness every now and then. Great write Eileen!

  4. So much to be thankful for. We do need to pause and reflect and collect the goodness that is all around us. There is indeed love to be found, caring and sharing. Life is good when we sit and reflect on all of our blessings, for sure. Wise poem, Eileen.

  8. Wonderful last line: Yet it is necessary to pause and collect the goodness. Very much akin to the good counsel of: stopping to smell the roses. On busy days, one must make a point of appreciating the little blessings in life, lest they slip past us . . . undetected.
