About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Festive Inspiration....

Seasons pass along through whims of regularity,
Spring, fresh as a daisy leads the way till holly time.
Surprises and life’s challenges of arrive to test us,
Each finds variety in ills or more favourable events.
December offers comfort to console those wintry blues,
Wrapped inside the rush and trimmings of Christmas.
Thoughts consider memories of gatherings to celebrate,
Fun times when children wished upon notions of Santa.
It provides a coming together of near and far away faces,
Sitting side by side, or shared by the wonders of technology.
Savouring the warmth of connections and the bonds of love,
Plans rest upon family and friends united by a common date.
Reviewing all that has passed, while considering a new future,
Joys always inspired by belonging to this most welcome festivity.
Taking account of those threadbare calendar days remaining,
A true kindness for those words shared and received, world-wide.

  1. Despite life's challenges and tests, it is good that at this time of year we think back on those 'fun times when children wished...' and to savor the bonds of connections both near and far. And may these reflections bring us peacefully and joyfully into the new year as well! Have a Happy Holiday, Eileen!
