About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Directions and Destinations....

Life’s pathways carry the imprints of others,
We follow behind them on our own timeline.
Desires wish upon changes and betterment,
Jubilation and disappointments jag our hopes.
Challenges and many rewarding graces endure,
Calculated risks or pleasures impact or sustain.
Trapeziums tripping up and over best laid plans,
Transitions and transgressions prompt other ways.
Destinations enhance and encourage well-being,
Feeling good is best from a sense of achievement.
Spirits are raised and dashed with friends and foes,
Experiences shared and guarded as keepsake memories.
Days march ever onwards while the hands of time tick,
No living to waste but to enjoy with its continual review.
Adventures stretch imaginations and entertain futures,
Maps assist and coordinate while opportunities beckon.
Resting upon life’s daily troubles may be a temptation,
But the one-way direction offers life a fleeting interest.

  1. You have embraced a lot of aspects of journeying in your poem, Eileen. "We follow behind them on our own timeline" - this is my favorite line.

  2. Excellent. So true that each life's pathway carries other people's imprints. And so many shared experiences along the way, which in the end leave imprints for others to follow. I don't think we should rest upon one's daily troubles. Best to continue that one-way direction looking for the positive along the way. Nice to see you, Eileen!

  3. This poem really captures the sense that we are all connected, not only to all people now, but to all people in the past as well. Great job!!

  6. Yes we are all connected on this one-way journey of time and life. For some reason I especially liked the word "Trapeziums." Keep writing!

Great ending Eileen! One may be tempted to procrastinate. By nature it is a good option in a negative way! But staying focused is a better option. It will get things worked out easier.
