About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Spring's Sprightliness....

Gradually the presence of cold winter abates,
While seasons shift towards a new springtime.
Hibernation relaxes its hold on lively activities,
The sparse garden vista steadily takes shape.
Barren flower beds suddenly bloom into life,
Daffodil heads and stalks standing to attention.
Undressed tree branches unravel fresh covering,
Branches adorned with unblemished leafy shade.
Emptiness is replaced by nature’s timely presence,
Birdlife occupied in song while habits are nesting.
Signs relieve the inward shelter of the homestead,
There is a welcome spirit within this sprightly spring.

  3. Eileen, I really love this time of year. Yes, there is a welcome spirit to spring. I think spring is the most welcoming of seasons...replacing emptiness of winter. And definitely hibernation relaxes its hold.....time to get out and DO things again in the out of doors. I think your poem and my poem gave similar messages really.... Happy Spring, Eileen.
