About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Knowing Happiness....

So many great blessings are recounted over time,
One by one joy and goodness often come to mind.
Placing trust upon pathways of fortuitous choices,
Remuneration shares its many benefits and gifts.
At times when the veil of darkness appears to fall,
It affords a timely contemplation before its clarity.
Isolation can be a very chilly perspective of location,
Warmth of invite and embrace can offer a belonging.
Reviewing the characters framed in old photographs,
Their fun captured in smiling faces of days long gone.
Huddled together on a cool evening telling tall tales,
Laughter lines and eyes alert to the jovial ambience.
Walking on golden sands hand in hand with real love,
Leaving footprints and collecting oceans of memories.
Each new dawn brings thanks for further opportunities,
Happiness reveals itself throughout the passage of life.

  1. And so we are wise to keep remembrances of those moments of happiness ... the perspective in a colder and lonelier time can be an added blessing. Happiness to you, Eileen.

  2. I love your approach in this..the echoes of past happiness..loss...and moving forward in remembering and casting new memories maybe...knowing is the key perhaps...once we know what it is..we can remember it and celebrate it...

  5. Yes, happiness does reveal itself throughout life. It is nice to be able to look back upon our childhood happiness, early adult happiness, and now to enjoy the happiness of our present stage. It is good to leave our footprints as we travel!

  19. I like this idea that happiness reveals itself.....rather than it being something that we need to chase after.

  23. How true, Eileen. Life doles out such a mixture of ills, woes, sadness, melancholy, but also joy, happiness contentment. We have to actively ferment and distil the mixture so as to brew a fine liquor of pure happiness :-)
