About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Fickleness....

The reality of it dawns,
Not before its time.
A fool’s silly errand,
To trust without return.
Those oft empty hearts,
Void of a real warmth.
Those fickle friendships,
Once counted upon.
Now truly exhausted,
Efforts fail to enthuse.
Empty words stare back,
Blank paper speaks volumes.
An inconvenience arises,
Nil response understands.
Immediate sadness blisters,
Soon cooled by icy disconnect.
Yesterday’s unruffled waters,
No more a foolish paradise.
Mirrors reflect one’s image,
Friendship requires both sides.

  1. Very true. I think when it becomes one sided, friendship almost feels like non existent, heavy... almost like chatting with a stranger.

  2. Indeed friendship is a two-way street, Eileen. One person cannot work it totally alone. How well I understand the kind of 'icy disconnect' that you wrote about. When that occurs, I think, the best thing to do is to move on! Glad to see you in PU today, Eileen.

  3. Ha! Awesome argument with great resolution! My concerned look turned into a smile... not of the writing (wonderful) but of the image I was conjuring up.

  4. YES! "Friendship requires both sides." One wearies of a situation where there is no reciprocity. Good one, Eileen. This is Sherry on my daughter's computer. Having trouble with identifying myself, LOL.

  5. "Soon cooled by icy disconnect" the only saving grace sometimes...both sides are definitely needed for friendship to sing...

  6. Ha. You have no idea how much I understand that fickle friendship that disappears as soon as it is inconvenient. It is def a two way street - and like love relationships, it takes effort and work.

  7. I thought that was a lovely read.

  8. Definitely - friendship must be a mutual relationship too. Every kind of relaship cannot withstand the tests of time if it is one way.

On the other hand - you could be talking about your relationship with your muse

  10. Alas, some friendships in these times are fickle and based on source and means. I fail to understand how some people can use friendship in order to accomplish their selfish desires and hurt them along the way.

Friends are meant to be cherished and loved.. their true value lies in our hearts. I m glad to have found one like you :)

    Lots of love,
    Sanaa

  12. I think you can count true friends on one hand - exactly because it requires seeing the light and dark in ourselves and each other...
