About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Reason to Believe....

The daily uphill struggle can deplete energy,
Tired souls soon slip backwards in low spirit.
Balancing actions with obvious consequences,
Pauses progress in a limbo-land of indecision.
Neither here nor there, stalls any satisfaction,
The journey is undetermined and frustrating.
Self-belief requires at times, a single incentive,
One wise word may motivate and spur activity.
A fresh impetus stimulated by encouragement,
Arouses a deflated attitude and incites a revival.
New potential waves in the nearside of a future,
It indicates new horizons which invite involvement.
Austerity resets life to shades of colourless basics,
Recovery adds tones of renaissance and tenacity.

Perfect ending Eileen Ma'am. Like your style. Given the trying times and obstacles at the earlier part of the poem, it comes with a finality of hopes at the end. Reason to believe this comes from a talented mind!

  3. I especially love the "tones of renaissance and tenacity!" Much needed in this old world, LOL.

  4. Austerity also makes us realise what is really important and that we can in fact cope in hard times and be thankful for that.

  5. So true that the uphill struggle in life is not easy; but I like the way your poem expresses the importance of tenacity and keeping at it. Kind of reminds me of the old adage: "when the going gets tough, the tough get going."

  6. as they say, patience is a virtue. and so does belief - if you don't hang tough - you can never taste the sweetness of victory.

This is so profound! We as humans need constant support and reassurance to help move on and to continue to believe in ourselves.
    Beautifully penned!

    Lots of love,
