Remembering...
The months between October
and December
Always draw me back to those
years now gone
Between autumn’s leaves
and twinkling lights
It’s very easy to recall so
many happy memories
Times shared with loved
ones, no longer here
I miss all that excitement
of travelling to visit
Airports overfilled with
pre-Christmas bustle
Arriving to the warmth of much-loved
hugs
Winter warming drinks and tasty
festive foods
Scents and smells evoking
childhood goodness
Being together was a
precious gift for each other
Now there’s a certain
emptiness to these months
It’s how life is as we are
moved along by memories
Remembering the past while
enjoying today’s times…

Yes. You speak my mind! Have a great day!
There is so much warmth in happy memories, with a tinge of sadness for their absence now. Love your close where new memories are created too 'while enjoying today's times'.
ReplyDeleteIt's true. When I think of the holiday season, it is those of past years I remember, when all the kids were young, and then later, when they all came home for Christmas for a time. There was a magic to it that is missing now as I am more of an observer of the season than a participant.

So very true...we should never forget the past--its wonderful occasions and people who are no longer with us, but we can enjoy the present as well. I hope this season is a good one for you, Eileen.
Oh delightful lines, Eilleen! There's truly is Christmas about memories as we age! And remembering them keep us alive.
