Hours of dusk and dawn
lure the owl from its perch,
Hunger pangs satisfied by
the stealth of opportunism.
Silent flights accurately
guided by feather tip precision,
Far-sighted to
seek out even the most concealed of prey.
Solemn in demeanour and
impressive in its watchfulness,
Courted and feared by
strands of folklore and mythology.
A mysterious aura surrounds
this plume coated raptor bird,
Prowess and prestige rest
within its camouflaged disposition.

ReplyDeleteNot readily seen but heard. One hears so much of the owl and its prowess in the dark. It certainly has that aura of awe and fearlessness. It can tear preys apart to keep its reputation intact! Great write, Eileen
