About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Seasonal Greetings....

Transferred from each to thee and thine,
Warmest festive words extolled in time.
A December rush brings us to the cusp,
Collectives of gifts wrapped with goodwill.
Days occupied in deepest contemplation,
The scent of Christmas urges enthusiasm.
Children’s excitement and their innocence,
Awaiting that night-time of great expectation.
Thoughts consider those alone by themselves,
Either content in that position or without choice.
Gatherings between here and there together,
Efforts made to embrace this special occasion.
Written words as an annual exchange world-wide,
Seasonal habits connecting friends with cordiality.

Bouquets of Blessings....

There is a presence all around us every moment,
Not always touching nor in our deepest conscience.
Yet, it gently rests in the background of a knowing,
Its simplicity is in the ordinariness of life’s routine.
Flighty garden birds and seasonally scented blooms,
Or knowing and loving the sharing and caring of friends.
Joyous embracing of family fun and times of returning,
Warmest memories always remember a homely welcome.
Travelling beyond the close confines of self-containedness,
Resisting prior hesitancies and to experience new worlds.
Gifts of absorbing and capturing so many surprising words,
Written and revealed with the knowledge of being blessed.

Distinctly December....

Pressure and panic parcelled together,
Hurtling betwixt and between in unison.
Passing oneself on the slow return journey,
Yet running and leaping through many rings.
This hectic season of the giving and receiving,
Easy online purchases cascade into mighty piles.
Remembering personal proclivities and tastes,
Who is worthy of this purchasing predicament.
In time, rapt with great relief of done and dusted,
The twinkling lights of festive spirit shine through.
December’s presence fraught with best intentions,
Moods swing with benevolent melancholic jingles.

Prowess and Prestige....

Hours of dusk and dawn lure the owl from its perch,
Hunger pangs satisfied by the stealth of opportunism.
Silent flights accurately guided by feather tip precision,
Far-sighted to seek out even the most concealed of prey.
Solemn in demeanour and impressive in its watchfulness,
Courted and feared by strands of folklore and mythology.
A mysterious aura surrounds this plume coated raptor bird,
Prowess and prestige rest within its camouflaged disposition.
