About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... HallowFall...

Summer’s outdoor season has reached its end
Autumn’s harvest has been safely gathered in
Dry crops and foods all sheltered and stored
Prepared for winter’s cold and blustery arrival
October’s last few days carry an extra interest
‘T’is the time when shivers lurk around about
Betwixt days of Halloween and All Saint’s Day
When olde Celtic traditions celebrate Samhain
It’s an opportunity for all manner of fairy folk
As goblins and other spirits seek out our souls
Whilst ugly ghouls wail and screech to scare
Daring to trick or treat our mortal response
There’s a sliver of thin light from us to them
To unknown worlds of those who have died
Elders tell stories of age-old mythical folklore
Candles often flicker as we wait in our watch…

Pardon...

Forgiveness is rarely a fully restorative gesture
There usually remains a degree of the hurt felt
For some it’s simply easier to settle an old score
To let bygones be done with and just forgotten
Others struggle to fully excuse and exonerate
Harsh words can leave indelible traces for life
Blemishes that cannot ever repair broken trust
Memories that haunt and hurt without decline
Rather like the fragments of a shattered mirror
Things never look the same again once flawed…

Seasonal...

Salad days have now slowly retreated for the year
Cool summer’s eating replaced by autumnal fare
Harvest time brings a bounty of goodness indoors
Jars of berry jams and assortments of pickles await
Taste buds sense the scent of home cooked meals
Hearty casseroles warm those colder weather days
Family meals echo the fun of shared dining chatter
There’s such warmth in the buzz of a busy kitchen…
