About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Year's End...

Once darkness falls into every corner
Daytime’s clarity is curtailed too soon
It’s easy to stumble while seeking solace
Peering outwards into winter’s starkness
Some know bereavement’s untimely pain
When it all seemed quite alien to festive fun
Years pass and we still recall those, we miss
As we gather to review life’s landscape
Remembering events of great happiness
Unable to believe how plans came and went
While seasons move along apace and renew
I like to regard December as a new bouquet
Bringing love and hope all bound together
Sunshine petals bringing a freshness of light
Mulled scents toast a Christmas celebration
Hugged by the warm embrace of being here
As we transition from this year to the next…

A Moment...

There are moments that forever remain fresh in mind
As realistic as every other occasion you cannot forget
Remembering the electrifying ping of instant disbelief
Thinking you had misheard vocal words of abject hate
Repetition simply confirmed such bitterness first heard
This heavy pulsating blow impacts hard on one’s being
Revulsion remains as perpetrators show no contrition
Hemmed-in amid a buoyant circle of raucous aggressors
An innocent bystander feels the fear from a baying crowd
Survivalist instincts will a physical body into an escape
Whilst inner scars of victimisation are held tightly within
Discrimination knows no bounds for the fearful victim…

Alterations...

Life’s meandering tapestry never stands still for long
Seasonal changes create many different landscapes
Spring’s wonderful new beginning brings optimism
Summer’s warmth renews our soul with its blessing
Autumn brings riches of colours and harvests of fruit
Winter’s nip sends us indoors to enjoy inner comfort
Underneath the cover of everyday living we all alter
Maturity and experiences impact upon our directions
An insecure voice might gradually find its own strength
No more a silent petrified victim to the might of another
Confidence allows new progress and makes a difference
Saying no takes great courage for those seeking changes…
