A
snapshot of the actuality,
Reality
captured in a glimpse.
Being
and sense suspended,
Life
transferred between times.
Seeing
oneself with warts and all,
Light
reflected by considered image.
Simply
an instant temporal façade,
Concealing
and containing inner truths.
The
visage masking the soulful content,
Revelation
is not just a passing mirage.

Poets United: Mid-Week Motif…Mirror….
Oh, ouch...."a snapshot of the actuality"!! So very true, but sometimes something I would prefer to ignore. Sigh. (LOL) It is true though that we really cannot view the 'soulful content' when we look in the mirror. The mirror does not reveal the depths that reside within.
ReplyDeleteI love how you inch around to reality as a mirage! Even more convincing to me than a tract in Eastern religion. And also, know ing this helps me deal with those snapped likenesses that find more warts on me than I actually have. Welcome home, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteso true in concealing and containing inner truths...the mirror does not let us see that at all...only what is there on the outside and apparent....
ReplyDeleteWarts and all, the reflection of all that is, good and bad, the power of faith over the soul. Hidden depths that make me ponder.
ReplyDeleteWell I like the glimpse into reality ~ We simply have to see beyond the mask ~
ReplyDeleteI like the image of the snapshot! You are right, a mirror image is only art of the reality.
ReplyDelete"The visage masking the soulful content" says it all, Eileen!!!! Love this!
ReplyDelete"A snapshot of the actuality, / Reality captured in a glimpse"----so true, so true.... I have enjoyed reading...smiles...
ReplyDelete'Simply an instant temporal façade,'....how beautifully captivated....
ReplyDeleteSome mirrors can be sobering..your poem is fierce and truthful
ReplyDelete"Simply an instant temporal façade,
ReplyDeleteConcealing and containing inner truths."
We really are so much more than what is reflected back to us in the mirror! I really like these lines!
