About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Bridges...

Life is full of pathways and meeting points
Various plans are laid out simply by destiny
Other directions come about by choices
Pivotal moments often cause a dilemma
It can be difficult to find a happy way back
If lost in a confusion or a lonely isolation
Stepping up to acknowledge challenges
May require a transition between thoughts
It takes bravery to cross a wavy wooden bridge
Especially when taunted by intense winds
It once carried me from petrification to success
Personal achievement is to reach the other side…

  1. I like the view of life's journey as crossing a bridge - the journey of growth as a human. Lovely to see you at What's Going On, my friend.

  2. I like your thoughts, Eileen, about there being transition points in life, and sometimes when you cross between one point and another it may not be easy -- especially if there are winds (perhaps metaphorical?) along the way! But it is such a relief when one does accomplish that transition!

  3. Hey Eileen, I can feel the suspension in this piece. It's amazing how many ways there are to approach the infrastructure of our shared reality.

  4. From petrification to success, yes indeed, those bridges test our fears and then reward us when we cross them...

  5. "It takes bravery to cross a wavy wooden bridge"...It does, specially when intense wind is the main obstacle. The happy part of it is that once crossed, it's crossed. But the first step needs courage indeed. I like the progression of your thoughts, Eileen. Thank you for joining us.

  6. "It takes bravery to cross a wavy wooden bridge"! Indeed, but as you say, life is a series of bridges, some started in confusion and loneliness. That makes success even more beautiful, standing tall, hair blowing in the wind. Thank you, and thank you, too, for your insightful comment on my poem.

  7. Petrification is no good, and many seem to succumb to it!

  8. This line is my problem: "It can be difficult to find a happy way back" - I tend to burn the bridges pretty good.

  9. :You've caught the transition in bridges well.
