Early days love is quite
fickle and flighty,
It arrives from wherever and
easily leaves.
Loneliness the mainstay of
so many hearts,
Resigned to sitting upon a
single track of life.
True love evolves and
nurtures total yearning,
It’s embracing experience
with a silent holding.
Written on the lines and
the face of sincerity,
Oft whispers loud notes of
caring and sharing.
Demanding in its totality
and daily interference,
The rewards never cease in
their endless bounty.
Love transfers and
encompasses the very best,
For without love there is
little reason for being.

Poets United Mid-Week Motif: ‘Love.’…
I so agree--love encompasses all--lovely write!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully expressed, Eileen! I love the contrast of Early Love and True Love, the silent holding, lines, the demands and rewards, reason for living. I say YES.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem throughout! You express a lot of truths here. True love does evolve. And sincerity, caring and sharing are momentous in any relationship. Perfect closing line!
ReplyDeleteYes, true love does evolve. It does not happen immediately, but it is something that is built on and deepens with time, and yes giving reason to our being. Very nice, Eileen.
ReplyDeletelove transfers and encompasses...i like that bit eileen...i agree too on there being little reason without love....
ReplyDeleteThis is really beautiful, Eileen. I especially like:
ReplyDeleteTrue love evolves and nurtures total yearning,
It’s embracing experience with a silent holding.
Love transfers and encompasses the very best,
ReplyDeleteFor without love there is little reason for being.
Very philosophical and very true Eileen! Though many found it easily but for a handful it is so elusive. To each his own best describes it! Wonderful take!

I love "written on the lines and the face of sincerity" so much!
ReplyDeleteTrue love does evolve over time yes. And I love the last line - love makes the world go 'round :)
ReplyDeleteIt is and it does. A poem of great truth. A lovely poem.
ReplyDeleteThat single track is very haunting..so very true.taking the risk of linking up to another line seems well rewarded as your poem so clearly conveys
