About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Posy

A pretty bunch of kisses
Wrapped in promise
Love’s unspoken poem
Every stem a heartbeat
Of perfumed bloom
A still life scene
Pleasing to the eye
Glass tinted roses
A myriad of colours
Their shiny claws of thorn
Prickles of warning
Petals of confetti
A bouquet of smiles
To send and receive

Despite the offending 'pricklies', it is still a joy forever. How have you been keeping, Eileen, Ma'am!

  7. The gift has claws!!! They belie the perfection and promise. Nicely done.

  8. I love roses in the garden but not so much cut and put in vases indoors to slowly fade and drop their petals there. No wonder they have claws!

  9. Ah, even within something so beautiful one can find the occasional thorns to keep us on guard just a bit.
