About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... Take This Poem...

Take this poem written fresh and new today
A brand-new prompt has arrived just in time
I found an interesting thread of inspiration
Followed where it led across my imagination
Delved into yesterday’s archives of photos
Looking back to where travels had taken me
Chicago city and the start of a colourful fall
Took an overhead train just to hear it rattle
A cityscape viewed from a leisurely cruise
Leaves crunched underfoot as we explored
Sky to ground view from John Hancock Tower
I can still smell dinner’s smoky food scents
Stopped off where the blues were playing
Lost ourselves within the heart of the vibe
Enjoyed shopping hours in Michigan Avenue
A vivid treasury of memories, now a poem…

  3. Thank you for taking me on your travels via photos, Eileen. I love the line ‘Took an overhead train just to hear it rattle’, which is something I might do. Your poem appeals to all the senses, from crunching leaves to smoky food scents and the blues.

  4. Such fun and satisfying memories to look back on. When I used to go to Vancouver, I loved taking the skytrain and the seabus, viewing the city through the windows.
