About Me

My photo
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now living in Cheshire, England. I started to write poetry some years ago, as a hobby. I have enjoyed that new venture very much. My preferences are for long and micro-form poetry styles. A first book of poetry ~ Reason Without Rhyme, was published in December 2013. A second book ~ Fifty Seven Pebbles, was published in September 2015...I am presently compiling the content for my third book. Thank you for visiting my Blog... What's Going On...

Passing along life’s one-way highway
Peaks and plains of highs and lows
Moods and outlook guided by seasons
Inspiration sought from changing times
Motivation and creativity easily depleted
Seemingly caught in a world of downbeat
Crystal clear vision too often just a blur
Fulfilment lacked any sense of excitement
Those were the many darker days we knew
Freedom encourages our footprints in new soil
We stand by seashore beaches and mountains
This journey can see many fresh opportunities…

  1. Yes, it is a one-way highway, and there is no other route. I empathize with the depletion of motivation and creativity. Hopefully, with this new endeavor, some motivation will return. Though, as you mentioned, so much is downbeat, we must look for the fresh opportunities to survive and thrive! Fine poem, Eileen!

  2. I so resonate with your words, Eileen.....so much of the news is disheartening, we have to actively practice gratitude and appreciation for ordinary life because we see, at any moment, everything can change. The beauty of nature sees me through, though it also breaks my heart because of the climate crisis. I love "Freedom encourages our footprints in new soil." Beautifully said, and a hopeful note to end your poem.

  6. "Those were the many darker days we knew" - haven't we all known these at some point? But there are always silver linings, aren't there? Enjoyed your poem :-)
