Isolation brings its own tranquillity
Much craved by some individuals
Set far away from life’s
routines
It’s the very torment
others hate
Some pontificate in angry
tongues
Delivering hell fire and damnation
As others stomp across the
world
Wearing uniforms of aggression
Terrorising those unable
to resist
Diplomacy is not in their
language
While this world grows more
fearful
Ghosts from history seem
to caution
Idle talk costs lives and
steals freedom
Without peace life itself
cannot thrive…

So true, too true. And what can be done? I hermit for a reason, coming out to play with poetry bloggers and a few people of faith.
ReplyDeleteVery true without peace life cannot thrive.
ReplyDeleteO yes, Let there be peace.
ReplyDeleteHappy you dropped by my blog today Eileen
Much🕊💖🕊love
Life indeed- doesn't thrive. That's why we ignore the chaos and pretend. Great write!
ReplyDeleteYour poem makes me long for peace even more fervently than before. I certainly don't want life to vanish for want of peace!
ReplyDeleteSadly history is no longer taught in our schools. It should be made compulsory. Without it we have not learnt the lesson of the past.
ReplyDeleteI resonate with isolation bringing tranquillity. I, like Susan, hermit a lot of the time. It is a turbulent world out there. I have peace in my heart and my life, but great concern for the fate of the world.
ReplyDeletePersonal peace is so important. Peaceful individuals make a peaceful society. Love how you've started the poem, specially the first line.
ReplyDeleteWise words and so true "Without peace life itself cannot thrive"
ReplyDeleteHate is peddled with impunity but aren't those who buy such evil also equally responsible! Peace is much needed!
ReplyDeleteIt's when we're alone that we find ourselves, Eileen. Lovely writing.

Beautiful, truthful writing, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteHow right you are Eileen but greed is in so many minds and there is always someone willing to crush others for their own kudos. Welive in a very ugly world now and so much hate is on our own doorsteps too!
